Who we are.
In affiliation with Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, Oberlin Newman Catholic Ministry strives to faithfully accompany students, faculty, and staff at Oberlin College and Conservatory regardless of identity or affiliation. All are welcome. All belong.
Oberlin’s Newman Catholic Community is a student-run campus ministry in the Roman Catholic tradition. We explore Catholicism in a supportive and inclusive environment that welcomes folks of all identities and creeds. Whether you are a practicing Catholic, a curious newcomer, or somewhere in between, we invite you to join Newman in discovering Catholicism.
Faith and Justice are the two central pillars of Newman at Oberlin College and Conservatory. Who we are is deeply affected by what we believe and how we live in the world. In Newman we strive to let our actions be informed by a deepening sense of faith and justice that sides with the poor and the marginalized.
As a community of faith, prayer is central to everything that we do. Each Sunday during the school year, we gather as a community to celebrate Mass in Fairchild Chapel (Bosworth Hall) as 5:30pm. Consider joining us to be refreshed and renewed in and through an encounter with the our Eucharistic Lord!
Food for the Journey
Not only do we share in spiritual food for the journey every Sunday, we also host a meal after every Sunday mass in Bosworth Hall at 6:30pm. Come and enjoy good food and good company!
Do you have gifts and talents that you can offer to our community? We are always looking for musicians to join music ministry, talented cooks to help prepare community meals, dedicated lectors and eucharistic ministers, and many others to help with our ministries. If you are interested in helping out, please contact our ministry team!
