Our Mission
In affiliation with the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, Oberlin Newman Catholic Ministry exists to faithfully accompany students, faculty, and staff at Oberlin College and Conservatory. Rooted in the Roman Catholic tradition, we are committed to building an inclusive and supportive community where all are welcomed, valued, and encouraged to belong—regardless of identity, background, or faith experience.
As a student-run campus ministry, we seek to explore and live out Catholicism through prayer, service, dialogue, and community life. Whether you are a practicing Catholic, returning to the faith, simply curious, or somewhere in between, Newman invites you to journey with us in discovering meaning, purpose, and connection through faith.
Faith Justice
Faith and Justice are the two central pillars of Newman at Oberlin College and Conservatory. Who we are is deeply affected by what we believe and how we live in the world. In Newman, we strive to let our actions be informed by a deepening sense of faith and justice that sides with the poor and the marginalized.
Weekly Liturgies
As a community of faith, prayer is central to everything that we do. This semester, we gather as a community every Sunday at 5:30 pm for Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Consider joining us to be refreshed and renewed in and through an encounter with our Eucharistic Lord! Carpool will be provided starting at 5:15 PM. Pickup will be at the Koi Pond outside the conservatory.
Food for the Journey
Not only do we share in spiritual food for the journey every Sunday, but we also host a meal after every Sunday mass at 6:30 pm. Come and enjoy good food and good company!
Get Involved
Do you have gifts and talents that you can offer to our community? We are always looking for musicians to join the music ministry, talented cooks to help prepare community meals, dedicated lectors and eucharistic ministers, and many others to help with our ministries.
